Man walks out leaving the prayer meeting in session
Idolatry takes many forms in our modern age just as the ancient Israelite faced. They’re in danger of allowing pagan gods like the Baals, moon, sun and gods of fertility to become their gods. Hence the prohibition in the 1st commandment (we considered at the grocery store this morning from Exod. 20:3): “You shall have no other gods before me“. In our modern Zulu culture, we don’t necessarily have statutes made of silver and gold whom we worship as gods. But the direct equivalent would be to allow, for instance, money, work, sport etc. to control our lives as our mini-gods. I alluded to the fact that ancestral worship is the worst form of idolatry which draws our (black) people away from God. Instead of depending, relying, trusting and having our confidence-in the One and only true God, we (blacks) rely, depend, put our trust and confidence in our forefathers for security, protection and guidance instead of God. One guy immediately walked out with a loathing look.
